Welcome to Querelle 09, the Queer student publication which comes out every year at Queer Collaborations. The 2009 edition has been put together by Western Australia's Murdoch Uni & UWA Queer collectives.
Queer students have a strong voice that should be heard, whether it be voicing dissent, desire, passion, or simply everyday events; these are our realities, our perspectives and our lives.
From short stories, prose, poetry, light and serious articles, artwork, raging rants about the state of our country and bitchin' bursts of poetry about your ex, come out with it - have your say!

October 7th - Querelle2010 is ready for submissions
At QC, CSU Bathurst won the bid to create the next querelle to be released at next years Queer Collaborations conference in July 2010 in Wollongong. So if you want to get published again or just want get involved for the first time contact them at querelle2010@hotmail.com

July 21st - Gallery submissions are now being uploaded
It's certainly been a whirlwind past 12 months and we can hardly believe how quickly it's the release of Querelle09 has come and gone. Having just got back from another great QC, the Querelle09 team couldn't be happier to be passing editorial control of Querelle onto the fantastic people from CSU Bathurst - congradulations on your successful bid and we're already looking forward to reading it at QC2010!
Thank you to everyone that attended the launch party last Tuesday and a huge thank you to everyone that bought shirts or picked up a copy of Querelle09. We've had some fantastic feedback on the publication and it certainly makes it all worthwhile.
Don't forget, if you weren't able to make it to conference this year, simple send us an email at querelle09@gmail.com and we'll be sure to get some copies out to you.
Lastly, as promised, we'll be uploading all of this year's submissions to the 'Gallery' section of the website over the next few days. Be sure to check back on Friday July 24th to have a look at everything we've recieved over the past 12 months.

June 22nd - Layout is complete!
After several tiring and somewhat sleepless weeks, Querelle09 is almost finished and we can hardly believe how quickly the past 11 months have gone. Querelle09 would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone that was able to take the time to submit articles to us as this wouldn't have been possible without you.
For those of you of heading to Queer Collaborations this July, make sure you check out the official Querelle09 Launch Party on Tuesday July 14th where you can be one of the first to get your hands on a copy of this long awaited publication.
However, if you can't make it to the conference this year, never fear! We've put aside plenty of copies to send to regional areas and campuses that can't make it to Canberra. If you haven't done so already, simply send an email with a postal address to querelle09@gmail.com and we'll get one out to you as soon as we can!
Make sure you check back here after the official release too as we'll be uploading all of our 80+ submissions to the website for you to check out, regardless of whether they made it into the publication or not.

April 1st - Deadline's over, now for the fun part
I can hardly believe that the deadline has now come and gone for submissions, it seems like only last week it more than a month away! But alas. If you didn't manage to get your article in on time, please remember to email us ASAP and let us know what you're working on and we'll see if we can sort something out.
Thank you to everyone who has sent submissions through! it's been fantastic to read everyone's pieces, we've definitely got a huge variety of topics which is great.
Keep an eye on the website though as we'll be adding everyone's submissions to the Gallery come July.
Also, for those who haven't been notified, Queer Collaborations is now taking place from July 13 - 17th (a week later than previously stated). If you can't attend but would still love to get a copy of Querelle09, send us an email on querelle09@gmail.com and we'll get one organised.

March 27th - Deadline is almost here!
Hi to all our happy writers!
As you'll surely know the deadline for submissions is fast approaching and you've got just 4 days left to get those articles in!
Please remember that if you can't make the deadline, simply contact us on querelle09@gmail.com and let us know. Provided an approximate word length/image size is given, we are willing to accept submissions after next Tuesday but you need to let us know before the deadline!
A huge thank you to everyone that has already submitted; it's shaping up to be a fantastical Querelle in 2009!

March 12th - Deadline coming soon & Fundraising needed
Dear Querelle-ers,
As the deadline approaches with less than a month to closing, we're getting more and more submissions from all over Australia (and even the world!) but please keep them coming! Tell your friends to contribute, and get involved by coming to this Saturday the 13th's Querelle-a-thon to get yourself inspired if you haven't contributed anything yet (check out the Facebook Group for more details on the event).
On another note (and maybe a more urgent one) If anyone would like to donate or help with fundraising, please don't hesitate to contact us at querelle09@gmail.com to help out, as this is a very important part of the publication process!

January 24th - Final Deadline Announced!
After a not-so-holiday-like period for the Querelle Team, who are currently busy editing, fundraising and starting to design the final draft layout for Querelle, we've officially set a final submissions date for Tuesday March 31st!
Please note that this is the final deadline to have your articles make it into this year's Querelle. Please send them through by 11:59PM (AEST) on Tuesday March 31st. If for any reason you are unable to have your piece in by this time, please contact us as soon as possible and we will be more than willing to work something out.
For those of you who have already submitted work and are in the process of re-writing or continued editing, please also endeavour to have your final piece ready by the deadline but again, if for any reason this is not possible, simply get in touch with us.
Once submitted, you should also recieve an email from the editing team letting you know that we've recieved your piece.
Thank you to everyone who has already submitted something, we've received some fantastic articles and we're looking forward to getting loads more over the coming weeks.

Although it's a rather sudden announcement, we've had to close the second round of submissions due to forthcoming time constraints.
However! We have opened our third and final round of submissions early. Stay tuned for more information!

January 6th - Mail-Outs & Round 2: Now Open
Hello all and welcome to 2009! On behalf of Querelle I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Years, and thoroughly enjoyed the holiday season!
Now that we're officially in 2009, Querelle is only a mere 6 months away from publication so there's no better time to start writing! Second round sumbissions are NOW OPEN so please start sending your articles through to querelle09@gmail.com.
No matter what it is; stories, poetry, drawings, cartoons, music, movies, we want to hear from you, and if in doubt, submit! Every submission counts!
Secondly, we'd also like to mention the official Querelle09 advertising packages which are now heading to a mail box near you.
Those Universities who have already got in contact with us, you'll be recieving yours ASAP but for anyone else who'd like a pack to get your collective into the Querelle spirit, simply email us with an address and we'll send one out. Each pack contains posters and information, plus heaps of paper cranes and popsticks to spread the word in our own unique Querelle way, so get onboard!

November 28th - Round Two Opening Soon!
Hi all!
It's certainly been a while since we've updated the site so here's a brief rundown of everything that's going on behind the scenes.
Firstly, we'd like to thank everyone for their subissions during the General Submissions Round. We're currently in the process of reviewing your material and adding it to our ever growing list of articles. The response to far has been fantastic!
Also, for those of you now entering into holiday mode, this is the perfect time to get writing for Querelle. With the recent election of President Obama and the passing of Proposition 8 in California (now preventing the once legal marriage of same-sex couples), there's plenty to get you inspired. if not, be sure to run through the now updated ideas page for something to start you off.
Finally, our 2nd submissions round will be opening shortly so check back for more (regular) updates :)

September 22nd - General Submissions Round: Now Open
The Querelle team is thrilled to officially announce that we are now accepting submissions for Querelle 09!
Although it's still early on, submissions have already started arriving, much to the amazement of the Querelle team. Understandably it might seem like the publication date is still a long way away, but the sooner you submit your piece, the better.
By submitting now, you not only have more oppurtunity to get some feedback from the team (before we're inundated with submissions) but it will also give you the time to continually improve the piece in the lead up to publication.
The General Submissions Round is a call for all articles, no matter what they are, so long as they're relevant. If you're stuck for ideas, be sure to check out the Ideas page for inspiration.
Deadline is October 31st 2008, at which time the review process will begin.
